Printer Says It Can Improve Suicide Notes

WELLINGTON, Ohio (AP) - Health officials expressed outrage Friday over a fake suicide scene displayed in a shop window to sell printing services.
The display at Special Effects, a video and printing store in this northeast Ohio village, shows empty beer cans on the floor near an overturned table below dangling legs meant to look like a person who hanged himself.
On a nearby table is a short, scrawled suicide letter on a piece of notebook paper - and another note that's lengthy and professionally printed.
A sign reads, "Contemplating suicide? Let Special Effects give your suicide note that professional look."
The head of the state agency in charge of suicide prevention said the display goes too far.
"We have to hope it reflects ignorance," said Michael F. Hogan. "When suicide takes almost 1,000 lives every year in Ohio - more than murder or HIV-AIDS - and when 20 percent of high school students think about suicide every year, we need messages encouraging life, not death."
Storeowner Chris Goran said Friday that almost all her customers thought the display she put up last week was amusing, and that she never intended to offend anyone.
"It certainly wasn't meant to elicit all of this emotion," Goran said. "I have to stand by the opinion that it's generating people talking about suicide, and if people talked about it more maybe there would be less."
Goran said she would keep the display up but may add a sign with a suicide prevention hot line phone number.

Spring Dentistry

I had a dream last night that someone was asking me about peoples' eyes in Simpsons. Or, more specifically, who has the largest eyes there. We were standing in front of the art college and having a lively discussion on which character there is most wide-eyed. I said an octopus, but the problem is, I have no idea whether there's an octopus in the show, because I don't even watch it. Dreams are strange things... The night before I dreamt that I was sharing a piece of Brie cheese while smoking pot with someone in the back seat of a car. And it made me wake up at 5am and I couldn't fall asleep afterwards. I don't even smoke pot. But I do like Brie cheese.
The Second Cup has unbearable keyboard keys. I feel horrible bone malfunctions in my fingers while typing here. But the tea is good. Green Cherry tea, although it's really quite tasteless.
Dentists are the root of all evil. There are various bleeding points on my gums, an overall gross taste after the "regular checkup appointment", and two cavities. they're small, but damnit, where'd they come from? what the hell? I haven't had a cavity since almost 7 years ago. So mad. Must be from all the sugar and coffee I consume. Damnit. Also wearing a short skirt to the dentist wasn't a good idea. Despite the fact that it's beautiful and all spring-like outside. What else? Oh, I got a hat. Finally! It has a little feather on the side, is probably from somewhere in the 50s..all classical and neat and fits me perfectly..umm...vintage accessories make me happy. Like those embroidered gloves I got a while ago for 5$.
Umm...what else? Vanisa should be here in 10 minutes. I have a good book to read. And instead of reading it, I'm typing nonsense on the public computer to be sent to my online photo journal. It scares me that a lot of strange, unknown to me people read it. Probably have a very strange view of me too... ah, 5 minutes left of computer time. How time flies when you're having fun! Or typing on a seemingly wooden keyboard while contemplating whether my gums will bleed to death.

Later: In 2 weeks, I'll have a total 4 tooth fillings. Seeing as I only have my teeth for 8 years (10 years to get rid of milk teeth approximately), it makes a filling every 2 years. Which means by the age of 98, I will have 40 fillings. Which is more than the amount of teeth I have. That...is a frightening thought.
